"The Planets" inside the Planetarium

Westgate Concert Band partnered with Scienceworks Museum and the Melbourne Planetarium for our final concert of 2019. We performed the full ‘Planets’ suite, which comprises seven movements representing evocative metaphors for elements of the human psyche, and were accompanied by the ‘The Planets 360’ Dome Projection from NSC Creative inside the Melbourne Planetarium to take our audience on an immersive audio-visual journey through the solar system. While fitting a full-sized ensemble into the small space was a feat in itself, the resulting shows were out of this world! Westgate rose to the challenge of the music to deliver two sell-out performances. As one of our most ambitious concerts ever, Westgate Concert Band is grateful for the support from its partners, Scienceworks Museum and the Melbourne Planetarium, as well as our sponsors from the Seddon Bendigo Band Community Pitch who enabled us to purchase the musical score. It was definitely an evening to remember!
